Drilling Activity Summary

Description

A new gas field discovery in South Australia’s Otway Basin was announced by Beach Energy Ltd. The #3-Haselgrove ST1 was drilled as a deviated well to 4,331 m and intersected an estimated gross gas column of 104 m in Sawpit Sandstone, with estimated net pay of 25.6 m. An estimated gross gas column of 11.6 m was also intersected in the shallower Pretty Hill Sandstone, with estimated net pay of 8.5 m. The well is in PPL 62 on state forestry land. It initially produced 25 MMcf of gas per day from perforations at 4,023-4,185 m and was tested on a 36/64-in. choke with a wellhead pressure of 2,700 psi. Flow rates were constrained due to the size of completion tubing. The well is currently shut-in and more testing is planned. Beach’s headquarters are in Adelaide, South Australia.
