Description

Anschutz Oil Co. plans to drill 40 horizontal wildcats in the Johnson County, Wyo., portion of the western Powder River Basin. The will be drilled from two pads in Section 35-47n-77w on the company’s Snuggles-Federal and Wheezer-Federal leases. The 20 tests on the Wheezer drillpad in Section 35 will be drilled northward to bottom-hole locations in Section 26-47n-77w and southward to bottom-hole locations in Section 11-46n-77w. The 20 tests on the Snuggles drillpad in Section 35 will be drilled northward to bottom-hole locations in Section 26-47n-77w and southward to bottom-hole locations in Section 11-46n-77w. Laterals will be drilled in four formations—Shannon, Niobrara, Muddy and Mowry. No horizontal wells have been drilled to date in the township. According to IHS Markit, the Snuggles and Wheezer drillpads are in an area of shallow Fort Union coalbed methane producers approximately 2 miles northeast of vertically-drilled Shannon oil producers in Culp Draw Field area. Sussex and Muddy oil producers in Pumpkin Creek Field are 2 miles to the north. Parkman oil wells have been completed about 4 miles to the east in the Empire/Iberlin Field area.
