Description
Fieldwood Energy LLC, based in Houston, found more oil pay at a wildcat targeting subsalt reservoirs offshore Louisiana. IHS Inc. reported that #1 (BP) OCS G32263 (Heron) on irregular Main Pass Block 295 was drilled to 19,555 ft., 19,510 ft. true vertical. The well hit 100 ft. of net oil pay including 76 ft. of net pay in two shallow sands, and 24 ft. of net pay across multiple sands between 11,400-16,700 ft. Water depth in the area is 220 ft. The original hole was drilled to 8,261 ft. The partner in the discovery, Energy XXI, indicated that the well is being evaluated to determine a delineation and development program for the discovery, with follow-up drilling expected at year-end 2013. Fieldwood purchased the block rights from Apache Corp.
